Spencer Singer has spent over two decades in the world of fashion, retail, and hospitality — not just observing it, but inside it. Launching brands. Relaunching them. Building wholesale businesses, running the country's biggest menswear trade show, and working alongside some of the most respected names in the industry.
Singer IV was founded in 2021 to bring that experience directly to the clients who need it most — properties building retail programs from scratch, brands looking for a sharper creative direction, and individuals who want a wardrobe that actually works for their life.
Throughout his career, Spencer has been brought in at pivotal moments — to launch brands, relaunch them, and bring them to market. The through-line has always been the same: a clear eye for product, a strong point of view on brand, and the relationships to make things happen. That instinct was shaped not just by the fashion industry, but by years spent in New York's nightlife and hospitality world — surrounded by the kind of people who express themselves through what they wear, how a room feels, and what a brand means to them. That cultural fluency runs through everything Singer IV creates.
Singer IV is named for a fourth generation of Singers whose lives have been shaped by creativity, craft, and commerce.
Spencer's father, Lloyd Singer, spent nearly his entire career at A.B.S., a women's fashion brand he helped build and spearhead over four decades, before founding Mad Good Vintage — a curated vintage destination born from a lifetime of product knowledge and an uncompromising eye.
His twin brother, Matt Singer, has spent two decades at the pinnacle of American menswear — Men's Fashion Director at Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus Group, Fashion Director at Bloomingdale's, Creative Director of The Men's Store at Bloomingdale's, and founder of M. SINGER, a men's lifestyle brand designed in New York.
His older brother, Ryan Singer, is a photographer whose work is held in the permanent archives of the Smithsonian Institution — and a serial entrepreneur who has built multiple product companies with the kind of conviction and creative courage Spencer has always deeply admired.
And at home in Sea Cliff, Singer IV takes on another meaning entirely — Spencer, his wife Michelle, and their two daughters. The work is inspired by a legacy. But it's motivated by them.
Spencer began his retail career managing stores for SCOOP in New York City — learning early on how great retail actually works on a floor. He went on to help launch US wholesale for Billy Reid, before being recruited to relaunch Gant mainline in the American market, serving simultaneously as Director of Wholesale for North America across Gant, Gant Rugger, and Gant by Michael Bastian.
He later served as Show Director for PROJECT, the largest menswear trade show in the United States — overseeing brand relationships, floor strategy, and the launch of PROJECT Golf. Alongside his fashion career, Spencer spent years in New York hospitality including time with Catch Hospitality Group, developing a deep fluency in how brand, environment, and guest experience intersect.
He also served as President and Operator of Hildebrandt's — a historic Long Island luncheonette and ice cream parlor founded in the 1920s — leading a full rebrand, identity overhaul, and relaunch that earned recognition as Best Ice Cream on Long Island by Newsday and national media coverage on ABC7.
